The Greater New Bedford Fishermen’s
Family Assistance Center is a satellite of the Greater
New Bedford Career Center system. The center operates under a
special grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, administered
by the Commonwealth Corporation.
The Mission of the center is to engage in partnerships
with eligible individuals from the fishing industry for purposes
of developing effective multifaceted job search and training strategies
which would lead to new and satisfying long-term employment.
The center was established in 1994 to serve individuals
and their families in the fishing industry in an effort to reduce
the long-term economic stress caused by declining fish stocks
and restrictive management policies. Our experienced staff is
ready to serve you.
